A foeresh, eralenet! (Greetings, friends!)
When I set out to write “When Comes the Firetide” it was just supposed to be this little single book fantasy novel – and a distraction at that! I was actually very focused on a sci-fi book I was working on at the time that was requiring a lot of research and, which frankly was depressing me because, let’s be honest, the climate future is bleak. So, my little Firetide idea was supposed to lighten my mood and be a bit of fun to take the edge off.
Next thing I knew, I had created two functioning languages, written three whole books and written a smattering of short stories as well! I’m actually in the process of writing the fourth (and final) book to the “When Comes the Firetide” series. I have an editor that I am working with and I am excited to work with her to get the second book edited and into print.
But, Quirifen’s Light! How did this happen! The world of Tybraes took on a life of its own and would not be denied! The Erahthi, the Shae, the Ganroth, the Tōk and Ontax are a rich tapestry of life filling that world and they speak actual languages that I created! It really blows my mind that almost ten years ago now, this world started out as something so completely different than it evolved into. And what it has evolved into is shaping up to be this beautiful thing that I really can’t wait for everyone to see.
